Club Update - 24th May

1 month ago By Joffy Chinnock

Following an article written in this weeks Didcot Herald, we would like to confirm our position in regards to the club's proposed development.

We are currently close to submitting our plans to South Oxfordshire District Council which will see a number of apartments built on currently unused club land. The proceeds from the apartments will then enable the club to proceed with plans which began over a decade ago to develop our training pitch and surrounding land into all weather pitches. The club believes that the state of the art all weather facility will be a great community asset for the town for many years to come.

The current plans for the development of the flats were first drafted back in late 2015 and we have been working to ensure the design of these provides the club with a sustainable opportunity to fund the all weather pitches. The need for this is simple, our operating costs continue to rise faster than our income streams which can never be a sustainable operating model, this opportunity will ensure the sustainable future of Didcot Town FC in the town whilst providing a much needed service to both the sporting and local community. As with any business, our ability to utilise our assets is key and land is our major asset. Over the coming weeks we will continue to update our supporters and the local community as this scheme progresses. This is an exciting time for the club but still a very challenging one as we need to generate the required funds to sustain our facility in the interim, this scheme is key to the future of our club and would like to ask for all our supporters support in the plan and the need to raise funds for the pending season.

The club needs the support of the local community and local businesses for a sustained and successful future, so we are asking anyone to get in contact with the club if they can help us to achieve our goal of bringing facilites to the town that everyone will be proud of along with a football team playing at a good level of non league football.
