Didcot Town kick off their Evo-Stik League South West campaign with their longest trip of the season as we make the 362mile round trip to North Devon to face Bideford AFC.
The Robins finished last season’s campaign in 10th place on 57 points, 2 places higher and just 3 points more than the Railwaymen. In the 2 games last season Didcot won the match at the Loop 4-2 having been 2-0 down early on before fighting back to score 4 unanswered goals to pick up a big victory. Both sides having a man sent off in the process. Didcot again twice came from behind in this fixture last season to draw 2-2 which included a last gasp equaliser from loanee Riccardo Andrady.
It promises to be another close and tough game for Diddy against an always competitive Bideford side they like many others will be hoping to improve this season and challenge for a playoff place. Diddy will come into the game full of confidence having had an excellent summer of recruitment and pre-season results, despite Tuesday’s game being postponed Diddy still managed to play 6 pre-season matches, winning 3 drawing 1 and losing 2. Both defeats to strong Eastleigh and Oxford United u23 opposition while wins against Cwmbran, Milton and notably Oxford City have shown the potential for this young squad.
As for Didcot squad news we hope to have a full squad to choose from. Stuart Cattell should be back again after he missed the Cwmbran game due to an eye injury as well as Lewis Hayden who also missed the game as a precaution following a slight knock. Seth Humphries was taken off after being on the end of a nasty challenge but again we expect him to be fit for Saturday.
In other squad news Josh Pin isn’t available as we still await news of his international clearance being granted but hopefully that won’t be too far away which will be another boost to the squad.
The Coach departs the Loop at 10am sharp on Saturday so get there with plenty of time to spare if you wish to travel with the team. The cost is just £20 return and the team would love your support.
Come on Diddy.
